Cedar Ridge Pavilion

Cedar Ridge asked for a space that could host a hundred guests for dinner or sit empty and still feel complete. The pavilion is a single cedar-and-steel roof plane, hovering just above the vine rows, with no walls to speak of — the vineyard itself does the enclosing.

Every board of cedar came from trees cleared for the vineyard's own expansion a decade earlier and had been air-drying in a barn since. Using it wasn't a sustainability flourish; it was the only material that made sense for the site.

At golden hour, the roof reads almost as a shadow cast by the hills behind it. That was the goal from the first sketch.
